The gear in the driver’s side headlight motor has failed. $90 for two upgraded brass from plastic gears have been ordered.
Why must you look so cool?

H ow has your window regulators and EBCM treated you?
I appologize if one or all three fail in the next month.
Mine happened one at a time, so it wasn’t too bad. Never had the headlight issue though.
Fun fact: if you fill your washer fluid up all the way and then go WOT from 0-90 or so, some fluid will actually come out on its own.

Tbh, I thought all pop-up headlights failed immediately upon exiting the factory. I live in German car land, so that seems like a reasonable fix to me. Good luck!

Nice. On a yellow car, the washer fluid makes polka dots.
But the EBCM is working fine, as are the windows. I’ve heard later cars had less EBCM issues, so maybe... I’ll have a soldering gun at the ready.

That's not much of a feat

And at least the failure point is a cheap, replaceable gear.

So no more headlight winks?

It never really winked, they are too slow to do the Mazda wink.

On the topic of headlights, how do the Corvette's compare to the GTI's? The LED lights are one of my favorite things about my 7.5 it would be hard for me to go back to halogen reflectors.

They are converted to LED’s, and probably better than the FiST’s , but they do not compare to the GTI’s. I probably miss that the most.

Hopefully they’re easier to get to than the TA’s. That being said, get some superglue, you’ll likely break the tabs on the housing getting it open.

Supposedly it’s a 45 minute job per side, we’ll see. I’ve seen “I did it after a case of beer it was so easy” and “it took me all day and gave me flashbacks to Nam” so, we’ll see.

On the TA you have to do it all blind as the nut holding the motor assembly on is on the back of the core support with about 1/4" of space to get a wrench in.
Af ter doing it 4 times, I can do it completely by feel in a couple m inutes.

and so it begins.........

That’s a sign that you have a partially stripped gear.

This is one of those things about which I was very glad my C4 was a super low mileage car that had rarely been driven at night before I owned it. I never had to mess with the gear conversation and my 24 year old plastic gears were still in great shape. Had I owned it long enough, I’m sure that would’ve changed.

What year is your Corvette? And what engine does it have? And can a 6'4" man fit in it?

Considering this is a GM product, I’d put money on it being the exact same mechanism.

It is. Also shared with the early Saturn SC coupes that had pop-ups.
